Upcoming Work

I’m writing a new memoir about my deep and healing connection to nature. I started listening to trees when I was seven-years-old. For a while, I lost that connection and suffered deeply. Part of my healing as an adult has been reestablishing these wild and unconventional knowings. It goes without saying that it’s time to pay attention to the forests and the wild things. They are sentient and for too long we have ignored this. Trees, birds, bugs, fish, and animals have a lot to teach us, and the older I get, the more imperative it feels to truly stop and listen.

  1. Hi Julie, I am really looking forward to your new memoir! I absolutely loved Dog Medicine, and I fell in love with Bunker and you 🙂 It is one of the best books that I have ever read!!! I read it last Fall, and I keep your book on my dresser to remind me of your very brave story and your loving
relationship with Bunker. Thank you for being so transparent and bringing such much needed awareness of mental health. I suffer from anxiety and depression and related so much to what you went through. My daughter and I both see a therapist for our issues, and I have been on medication for years. I have two rescue beagles who are both seniors now. I love them to death, and I totally understand that deep bond that you and Bunker had!!!
Sending love and hugs from cold Wisconsin!
