Things I re-remembered at the VCFA Postgraduate Writer’s Conference

  • Writers write to get at the truth of their experience. Period.
  • Who cares what you call it?
  • Don’t go looking for the voice, the form, the style. Let it find you. You already have it. Trust it.
  • Don’t write because you want to be good or smart or seen as talented or good as smart.
  • Do your best to always outlast your doubts.
